Although Levinson has been interested in adult development since about the 1950s, it has not yet come a long way. According to him, adult development constitutes the connection of psychology with various disciplines such as history, biology and sociology.

  • TRANSITION TO FIRST ADULT (AGE 17-22): With this stage, pre-adulthood ends and the foundations of the first adult stage are laid. In other words, it acts as a developmental bridge between these two stages.

 

  • FIRST ADULT ADULT (17-45 YEARS): The ages of 20-30 constitute the peak of life in terms of biology. In social and psychological terms, activities such as gaining a suitable place in the society, establishing a family, and reaching a more respected position in the adult world at the end of the age are seen. Love, sexuality, our passions, desires, family life, professional advancement, creativity, etc. a high level of satisfaction can be achieved in the realization of the goals, as well as overwhelming stress.

 

  • LIFE STRUCTURE ENTRY FOR FIRST ADULT (AGES 22-28): In this period, the individual leaves his family-oriented life and creates the first form of adult life and tries to ensure its continuation. Learns and applies adult roles and responsibilities.

 

  • 30 YEARS OLD PASS (28-38 years old): In this period, the individual re-evaluates his life. It renews it, changes it. He works to establish the next life structure.

 

  • CONCLUSION OF THE LIFE STRUCTURE OF THE FIRST ADULT (33-40 years old): With this period, the first adulthood period is completed. The individual has now taken his place in society. However, this period also helps us realize our youth wishes.

 

  • MIDDLE AGE TRANSITION (40-45 years): It is between the ages of 40-45. It is a major transitional period between early adulthood and middle adulthood. It is also a turning point; because, from this period, the process of change begins and continues throughout the entire age. it is expected to be more loving, more thoughtful, more cautious, less affected by internal conflicts and external pressures. On the contrary, life is seen as meaningless, absurd, troublesome and unpleasant for the individual.

 

  • MIDDLE ADULT (40-65 YEARS): Although the biological capacity is lower than in early adulthood, a personally satisfying energy is observed. The individual is now responsible not only for himself, but also for the development of younger individuals.

 

  • INTRODUCTION TO LIFE STRUCTURE FOR MIDDLE ADULT (45-50 YEARS): The first foundations of adaptation to the new age are provided.

 

  • AGE OF 50 (AGES 50-55): It offers a middle age opportunity to improve by changing the current life structure.

 

  • CONCLUSION OF MIDDLE ADULT LIFE STRUCTURE (55-60 YEARS): Thus ends middle adulthood.

 

  • ADVANCED AGE (LAST ADULT) TRANSITION (60-65 YEARS): It takes place between middle and late adulthood. It forms a boundary period that connects and separates both periods.
